Business, not yet as usual
I came back to the office this morning.
Tokyo’s train system is still quite disrupted due mainly to trying to reduce the pressure on the power grid. I thought I wouldn’t take any chances and decided to run in again. The footpaths were pretty quiet, but there was a traffic jam all the way to the office. Long queues for petrol.
Down around Shinagawa stn. things appeared to be pretty normal. However, the lack of the usual long line of salarymen queuing for one of the popular ramen restaurants was an indication that everything isn’t quite back to normal yet.
About half the people who work here (total 13) were able to make it in eventually. Even though we have power, phones and internet there’s not much we can do, as very few other people are able to get in to work.
There was a reasonably strong aftershock (6.2 mag.) during the morning. More are expected.
We were told we could go home any time we wanted. As I post this everyone has now left and I’m about to put my running gear back on to go home too. We aren’t expected to come back to work until Wednesday morning at the earliest.
